Juno Beach Seniors to Learn Hip-Hop Dancing

Juno Beach Seniors to Learn Hip-Hop Dancing

Senior Living Community Has All the Right Moves for Active Aging Week

Music is generational but, occasionally, it also transcends generations. Such is the case at The Waterford, a Juno Beach senior living community, where a group of residents is learning dance moves you don’t often see from those over age 60.

A professional hip hop dancer will be stopping by the community this Thursday, September 20, at 9 a.m. to teach the residents some moves. She visited a couple of months ago, as well, but this visit is a bit different. They’ll be creating a video to celebrate Active Aging Week, which begins September 23. The national campaign challenges society’s sometimes stereotypical expectations of aging by showcasing older adults keeping the mind and body active; and how important activity is to a healthy, enjoyable lifestyle.

The Waterford will be sharing its hipihop dance video and will challenge other senior living communities to join the fun. In particular, they’ll challenge their sister communities that are part of the Lifespace organization, which includes three other senior living communities in the West Palm Beach area.
