The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced Special Offers for Fans

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced special promotions taking place over the final three regular season home games at historic Lockhart Stadium. The first comes on Aug. 25 against the San Antonio Scorpions when the team will attempt to set a new world record for the most people wearing sunglasses in the dark. Then on Sept. 1, the Strikers will give away free soccer balls to the first 2,000 children ages 16 and younger at the game against the rival Tampa Bay Rowdies. The specials culminate with the regular season finale on Sept. 8 against the Puerto Rico Islanders when the Strikers host “Legacy Night” presented by Metro PCS. Ticket prices for this game will be rolled back to prices from the days of the original Strikers, starting at just $5.

World Record Night:
On Saturday, Aug. 25, Strikers’ themed sunglasses will be distributed to fans as they enter Lockhart Stadium while supplies last. Fans will be instructed via the public address announcer of when they need to wear the glasses in order to make an official world record attempt. The current world record for the most people wearing sunglasses in the dark is 1,642 and was set at Wrigley Field, in Chicago on July 6, 2012.

Free Soccer Ball Night:
On Saturday, Sept. 1, the first 2,000 children, ages 16 and younger, at Lockhart Stadium will receive a free size 4 soccer ball featuring the Strikers logo. Special group rates will be available for the game starting at $8 per ticket for groups of 10 or more.

Legacy Night presented by MetroPCS:
On Saturday, Sept. 8, in association with Metro PCS, the official wireless service provider of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, fans will be able to attend the match for the same price they would have paid in the heyday of the original Strikers during the 1970s and 80s. General Admission tickets will be $5 and Reserved seats will be just $7 in advance and $7 and $9, respectively on the day of the game. Group rates will also be available for groups of 10 or more, and will be $4 and $6 each for general admission and reserved seating in advance of the game.

Additionally, MetroPCS will have prize giveaways all night including a 4G Android phone. Fan savings extend beyond ticket prices as limited edition retro-style tshirts will be available for $10 at the game.
