Anthony Rendon’s Suspension Reduced by MLB, Appeal Dropped

Anthony Rendon, the star third baseman for the Los Angeles Angels, has had his suspension reduced from six to four games by Major League Baseball (MLB). Rendon was initially suspended for making contact with umpire Mark Ripperger during a game against the Oakland Athletics on April 4th.

Rendon was ejected from the game after arguing with Ripperger about a called strike in the sixth inning. As he was leaving the field, Rendon made contact with Ripperger, which resulted in his suspension.

Rendon appealed the suspension, but after a hearing with MLB officials, he decided to drop his appeal and serve the reduced suspension. As a result, Rendon will miss four games, including a three-game series against the Houston Astros, one of his former teams.

The reduced suspension is good news for the Angels, who are off to a slow start this season. Rendon has been one of their top performers at the plate, with a .290 batting average and two home runs in 14 games. His absence will be felt, but the Angels will have to find a way to make do without him for four games.

Rendon issued a statement after the announcement, saying he accepted the reduced suspension and was looking forward to getting back on the field with his teammates.

“I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to play for four games, but I respect the decision of MLB and I’m ready to move on,” Rendon said. “I apologize to my teammates, coaches, and fans for any distraction this has caused, and I look forward to getting back on the field and helping the Angels win.”

The incident with Ripperger was an unfortunate moment for Rendon and the Angels, but with the reduced suspension, they can put it behind them and focus on getting back on track in the early part of the season.
