Tuesday evening we were happy to enjoy the first ever Cheers to the Year event in celebration hosted by Carly Yoost and the Child Rescue Coalition!
Carly took the opportunity to thank supporters for helping Child Rescue Coalition smash its goals in 2019!
A wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season while learning about the accomplishments achieved in 2019, with a sneak peek at what’s to come in 2020 to continue protecting our children in the New Year.

Child Rescue Coalition is a nonprofit organization that rescues children from sexual abuse by building technology for law enforcement, free of charge, to track, arrest and prosecute child predators.
Headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, CRC developed the world-renowned Child Protection System (CPS) Technology, which has been a powerful tool for law enforcement agencies around the globe. Their technology has improved the success rates of investigators and policing operations in the ongoing pursuit to identify, apprehend and convict individuals and networks associated with child sexual exploitation.

Also, on Tuesday evening the Kick-Off Reception for National Jewish Health’s New Directions Luncheon was held at Gregory’s Fine Jewelers. The Luncheon will be held on March 4th featuring Olympian Dara Torres.
National Jewish Health is the leading respiratory hospital in the nation. The luncheon will raise funds to support research and treatment, including heart and lung diseases that affect women.
Patients receive cutting-edge, comprehensive, coordinated care from a team of medical professionals advancing the research and treatment of respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders.
Wednesday evening, we joined the celebration as another group of Kelly/Strul Scholars were welcomed by The Kelly’s and Strul’s at a holiday celebration at the Baldwin House.
According to FAU President (and co-founder of the Kelly/Stark Emerging Scholar Program) John Kelly, some of Florida’s most talented high school graduates accepted to Florida Atlantic University will never step foot on campus.

This will not be because they lack desire or are unwilling to work hard for a college education but simply because they can’t afford it.
The Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program provides first-generation, low-income students with financial resources and personal support to help them graduate from FAU in four years or less.
The Need: 2017 statistics reveal that 53% of college students graduate with roughly $23,300 in student loan debt.
National student debt, a hot topic for financial watchdogs, has surpassed credit card and other forms of personal debt, coming in second only to mortgage debt. Encompassing 45 million+ graduates, and reaching more than $1.4 trillion, national student debt has become a crisis.
The financial ripple effect for graduates saddled with student debt is substantial.
According to LendEdu.com statistics, student loan borrowers have been effected in the following ways:
🔹Nearly 30% move back in with their parents after graduation.
🔹Over 47% have delayed buying a car.
🔹Almost 28% have delayed getting married.
🔹Around 63% have delayed buying a home.
🔹More than 34% delayed starting a family.
🔹Over 73% delayed saving for retirement.

The Y is committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose and each other. Working locally, the Y focuses on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across communities.
The YMCA of South Palm Beach County is a non-profit organization that impacts the lives of nearly 70,000 people in our community. Annually, the Y provides over $1 million dollars in programs and services back to the community.
Also, on Thursday evening, we had a wonderful opportunity to meet a group of students who have benefited from the services provided by “Bound for College.”

A high school diploma is no longer enough for students to build a successful, rewarding career in this day and age. While a necessary stepping stone, today’s students must go beyond a high school diploma and pursue a college education in order to truly succeed.
Unfortunately for many young people, a lack of academic and emotional support at home coupled with challenging financial circumstances prevents them attending a post-secondary institution.
The Solution – Students in Bound For College (formerly Delray Students First) programs are provided with the skills and resources to successfully graduate from high school, gain acceptances to first rate universities and attain scholarships.
Bound For College provides underserved students with intense college prep tutoring, mental health counseling and health and wellness coaching in order to maximize their true potential and set them up for a lifetime of success.
The Impact of Bound for College in 2017-2018
🔹Students have increased their scores by an average of 10% on ACT/SAT
🔹100% of their students received a high school diploma and enrolled in a post-secondary institution in 2018
🔹Graduating seniors received an average of $10,582 in financial aid for college
🔹500 hours of tutoring provided in 2017-2018 academic year

Friday was the 14th Annual Wee Dream Ball, the largest fundraising event for Florence Fuller Child Development Centers.
Co-Chairs Tracy Louv and Donna Nero, along with Honorary Chairs Eda and Cliff Viner, created a spectacular evening beginning with cocktail hour that included a large silent auction followed by dinner and live auction. The evening concluded with a lively After Party. 
Since 1971, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers has provided early childhood education, after-school and summer camp programs, preventative health screenings, and behavioral healthcare for children in low-income families. FFCDC also provides family support services including case management, guidance in accessing economic assistance, job coaching, education in parenting skills, nutrition, child abuse prevention, and more, all in a one-stop shop aimed at building a better future for our community.

On Saturday evening, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services celebrated 40 years as the first beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. Initially created to fill a need for social services in South Palm Beach County now offers help, hope and humanity through its comprehensive range of programs and services which support people of all ages and beliefs in the South Palm Beach County community.

JFS has provided support to over 15,000 residents annually for 40 years through programs and services such as affordable counseling and mental health programs; emergency financial assistance; feeding the hungry; career and employment services; services for seniors, including Holocaust Survivors; volunteer opportunities; as well as ongoing support for our youth, elderly, and people in transition or crisis.
“For 40 years, JFS has been there to provide assistance and critical services to our neighbors,” said Danielle Hartman, President and CEO of JFS. “We help people of all ages and beliefs from individuals to families, children, parents, and seniors during all phases of life and the challenging transitions in between. We are proud of the strong community we have helped create here in South Palm Beach County.”

2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl & Community Pre-Party BBQ – December 20th at 6PM
In true T.G.I.F. heel-kicking country style, the community is invited to come out to dine, dance and cheer at Boca’s Country Music BBQ, the official pre-party Palm Beach County’s own sanctioned Bowl game. Hosted by the City of Boca Raton and Spirit of Giving on the night before the 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl, a live country band Shadow Creek Band will fill the amphitheater with a blend of western, bluegrass, rockabilly, honky-tonk, country rock music, as attendees rally for the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl home team. There will be plenty of food truck barbecue eats, picnic table seating, interactive activities under the South Florida Fair tent, country dancing, pop-up vendors, and community camaraderie plus spirited performances by the team’s cheer and dance squads to rally to rev up for their conference championship team. Admission is free; food, beverages (including beer and cocktails) and vendor purchases are not included. Attendees are welcome to bring a chair or blanket. Chairs will also be for rent inside the venue for $5 cash.
