Lauren Donald and Julie Peyton

Woman-owned and Florida created Natural Hair Care Line for coastal living supports Palm Beach County Charities
Boca Raton, FL – Developed in Delray Beach, Florida, the hair care line Under the Sun donates percentage of sales to local charities. Hair stylist and salon owner Lauren Donald of Delray Beach and philanthropist Julie Peyton of Boca Raton developed Under the Sun to uplift local charities while naturally uplifting hair care.
Under the Sun features three essential products for coastal living – Shampoo Treatment, Conditioning Treatment and Leave-in Styling Conditioner where a percentage of all sales are donated to local charities in Palm Beach County. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Palm Beach County will be the most recent beneficiary. “Helping to keep hair healthy naturally with this hair care line allows us to help the community too,” says Julie Peyton, co-visionary of Under the Sun.
“The Under the Sun hair care line was designed to thrive in nature’s most extreme conditions anywhere under the sun,” says Lauren Donald, hair stylist and co-visionary.   Each product is strategically designed for coastal living to infuse your hair with the moisture it needs to thrive, while shielding your hair from the harsh elements the environment so ungraciously bestows upon you.
Under the Sun hair line was created in Delray Beach, Florida in year 2012 by local hair stylist and salon owner Lauren Donald of Delray Beach and philanthropist Julie Peyton of Boca Raton.  “Our sulfate free and sodium chloride free  Shampoo and Conditioning Treatments gently cleanse and retain your hair’s natural oils, moisture, color, and proteins. Our multi-faceted Leave-In Styling Conditioner leaves each strand shiny and soft. Use our products in versatile ways to protect hair from day-to-day exposure and the long-term effects of environmental elements,” says Lauren Donald and Julie Peyton, co-creators of Under the Sun.
Julie Peyton was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Rochester and earned advanced degrees from the Bank Street College of Education. As an educator, she worked for private schools and also for the New York City Board of Education. She moved to South Florida in 2001 with her son, Jesse, now age 19. Julie is deeply committed to philanthropy.
Lauren Donald is the founder of Bond Street Salon which opened in July 2005 in Delray Beach, Florida.   Lauren grew-up in Boca Raton, Florida and graduated from Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, Florida in 1995.  And, it was during her youth, at age 16, that her hair styling career began by apprenticing in several renowned South Florida salons.  In May 1996, at age 19, Lauren moved to London, England and immersed herself into the art of hair cutting.
Julie and Lauren are serving as committee members of the Cystic Fibrosis 65 Roses Evening on the Avenue in Delray Beach on Friday, November 15, 2019.  A percentage of sales will be donated to charity from the  sale of Under the Sun products.
Under the Sun hair care line creators Lauren Donald and Julie Peyton realized that healthy hair is part of caring for the body when they launched the product in year 2012. Hair needs protection, like the skin, from an abundance of sunshine and with 663 miles of beaches, Florida is one of those geographical areas of sunshine abundance. Under the Sun features three main lines – Shampoo Treatment, Conditioning Treatment and Leave-in Styling Conditioner, where each product was strategically designed for coastal living to infuse hair with the moisture it needs to thrive, while shielding the hair from harsh elements of the environment.
As women entrepreneurs in South Florida and in as much as their product was created in year 2012 in Florida, Donald and Peyton are good role models for a study commissioned by American Express.  The study reports that women started an average of 1,821 new businesses per day in the U.S. between 2017 and 2018, according to analysis in the 2018 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report.  This current level of new business formation by women is greater than the daily average during the pre-recession period from 2002 to 2007 (714), the recession and recovery period between 2007 and 2012 (1,143), and the post-recession period between 2012 and 2017 (952).  The study also revealed that Florida has the fastest growth rate in terms of women-owned businesses between 2007 and 2018.
The locally created Under the Sun hair care line can be purchased online at alwaysunderthesun.com or to find a store, or call 1.855.888.HAIR. A percentage of the sales will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis in Palm Beach County for their 65 Roses Evening on the Ave event on Friday, November 15, 2019.
