South Palm Beach County Social Scene

By: Pamela J Weinroth

Last Week

Most of us redirected our focus last week.  As a result of Hurricane Dorian spinning too close for comfort, many events in Palm Beach County were either cancelled or postponed. Most of us were reduced to watching ever changing spaghetti models making it clear that West Palm Beach was about to have an uninvited visitor.

Alex Borstei, Rachel Brosnaham and Michael Zegen

After securing the house (that patio furniture didn’t look so bad in the living room), buying groceries (lots of water, canned soups and more batteries than we will use for the next 10 years), getting cash, filling the car, and checking on parents and children, we hunkered down with the dogs on Monday and Tuesday, binge watching “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” on Amazon Prime.

Marin Hinkle (Midge’s mom) and Tony Shalhoub

Now with two seasons under our belt, we are anxiously awaiting the release of season 3 in December. If you have any suggestions on a series (Netflix or Amazon) that is light, fluffy and as well written as this gem, please drop me a note at PamelaJWeinroth@gmail.com. Without Rachel Brosnaham (Mrs. Maisel a/k/a “Midge”), Tony Shalhoub (Midge’s forlorn father), Michael Zegen (Midge’s estranged husband, Joel) and, not to be forgotten, Alex Borstein (Midge’s manager, Susie), to fill our nights, not sure what we’re going to do for entertainment.

While we are breathing a sigh of relief in South Florida, Dorian’s catastrophic wrath has devastated the Bahamas. Our hearts go out to the Bahamian people, and we encourage you to seek reputable organizations to whom you can donate and provide support. It is clear the damage wrought by Dorian will take years (if not decades) to repair.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Not-To-Miss September Events:
