Boca Raton Public Library Teams Up With FAU for September Football Game

By Caylin Hirapara

The Boca Raton Public Library will be celebrating Love Libraries Day with the Florida Atlantic University Owls football team during their September 24th game against Ball State. This is the first Love Libraries Day between the library and FAU and many exciting activities are planned. The event has been incorporated into FAU’s Youth Day so families will enjoy free games and entertainment outside FAU Stadium beginning two hours before kickoff.

The event outlines the library’s Summer Reading initiative, which had a sports theme this year entitle, “Exercise Your Mind”. Participants in the Summer Reading program will receive on-the-field recognition during the game.

FAU Athletics showed their support of the reading initiative by also participating in the Libraries Summer Reading kick-off party on June 11th, with more than 1,000 people in attendance. The FAU football players have been fully involved this summer though the library’s “Read with a Football Player” story times.

The Love Libraries Day on September 24th will end the summer of reading and sports with a special day. Special ticket rates for the September 24th game are available to library cardholders and people who have registered for BRPL’s Summer Reading program. Cardholders may purchase a game ticket for $10, and for those who have enrolled in the Library’s Summer Reading program, a ticket to the game can be purchased for $5.

For more information and to get tickets, contact FAU’s Anaclaudia Cervantes at 561-297-0068.

Join the Boca Raton Public Library and the FAU Owls for a great game against the Ball State Cardinals and all of the fun activities planned for families on September 24th at FAU Stadium. Go, Owls!
