The Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team will open its regular season with a contest at Elon on Friday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. before returning home to host Warner on Monday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m.

The Owls kicked off the 2014-15 year with a 73-60 exhibition win over St. Thomas on Saturday. Marquan Botley led FAU with 17 points, while freshman Justin Massey had 15 points and seven rebounds. Elon defeated Emory and Henry 90-50 in its exhibition game. Freshman Dmitri Thompson led five Phoenix players in double figures with 14 points in the victory. Friday’s meeting will be the third season in a row that the two teams have met, with Elon winning the first two. The Phoenix took last year’s meeting in Boca Raton 67-62 despite a double-double (10 points, 13 rebounds) from Justin Raffington. Warner is already 5-0 on the season and its trip to Boca Raton will be the fifth of eight straight games away from home for the Royals. It will be the sixth consecutive season that the team has traveled to FAU Arena. The Owls won last year’s meeting 81-47, pulling down a school record 61 rebounds in the process. Monday night’s game will be NBA Night and fans are encouraged to wear their favorite NBA jersey or t-shirt and receive $1 off their ticket purchase.

The first 1,000 fans will receive an FAU Rally Towel courtesy of Coca-Cola. People can also meet Burnie the Miami Heat mascot, win a pair of Miami Heat tickets, and win a Michael Curry Toronto Raptors jersey. Subscription-based live audio of Friday’s game and subscription based live video of Monday’s game will be available through FAUSports.com. All FAU games will be carried on ESPN West Palm 106.3, which has an APP for the Smart Phone platform. American Sports Network will carry the game live.
