It has been a rough season for the Eagles out in Boca Raton, but they have continued to show fight in every game this season. Pope John Paul came away with an outstanding victory Thursday night against Miami’s Archbishop Curley.

The Eagles opened up the scoring with an 80 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rizk to Bryce Segui. Curley would answer though, scoring on a 50 yard touchdown run. From that point on, it would be all Pope John Paul. Rizk and Segui would connect 3 more times that night. Rizk would finish with 5 passing touchdowns on Thursday night.

The box score would be very telling. The Eagles had twice as many first downs, held Curley to zero passing yards, and outgained Curley in total yards 519 to 170. Curley ran the ball effectively averaging about 4.1 yards a carry, but it would not be enough for the air attack by Quarterback Ryan Rizk and the Eagles offense.

Pope John Paul improved to 2-7 on the season while Archbishop Curley remained without a win.

The Eagles will face the Scots of St. Andrew’s in their season finale this Thursday night.
