    The Trader Joe’s opening in Boca Friday is scheduled for the Jewish New Year and at least two council members will not attend.

 

  The 12-story Hyatt Place Hotel, Downtown Boca Raton’s first hotel is going to rise 40 feet higher than most of Boca’s buildings, breaking ground in March.

 

   The California-based build your own pizza chain Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, with investor LeBron James is set to open in the Fifth Avenue Shops in December.

 

    Dunkin’ Donuts has opened In the Regency Shops at Yamato and Jog Roads.

 

    Drivers traveling on Glades Road will face lane closures through the rest of September. Between State Road 7 and Lyons Road, two lanes will be closed Monday through Friday as crews finish up a resurfacing project. One westbound lane will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the day and in the evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. An eastbound lane will be closed throughout the day from 10 a.m., then overnight until 8:30 a.m. the next morning. The closures are part of a $1.5 million project that includes repaving the road, installing mast arms for traffic signals and upgrading curbs, sidewalks and guardrail. The project is expected to be completed in the fall.

 

     The company that built Sugar Sand Park has finished designs for the playground redo, expected to cost upward of $1.2 million, starting in February and the playground will be closed for 90 to 120 days. Changes to the science playground will include an open third story for climbing. Ramps and new play surfaces will make the playground all-accessible

 

    Foreclosures in South Florida spiked in August after a year-long decline, with 280 filings in Palm Beach County, up 10%. Observers say foreclosures are now moving swiftly through the courts as dockets are better prepared to handle the filings and lenders have updated required paperwork.

 

     White House officials revealed that thousands of South Florida Obamacare enrollees will lose health care coverage by the end of the month because they failed to document they were legal residents in the U.S. and those who did not verify income status by the faulty healthcare.gov website by the end of the month will lose tax credits used to offset costly premiums.

 

     Nine out of ten of Florida law schools are showing a significant decline in applications.  University of Florida law school posted a 20% decrease this year after a 15% decline the previous year. Skyrocketing tuition is one of the reasons a law degree is now costing an average budget-busting $150,000. Also, the glut of lawyers is causing job placing problems for graduates. The Florida Bar currently hosts 100,000 members.

 

     South Florida’s Sprit Airlines is the most profitable in the industry and received the most complaints in the industry.
