King Tides Combine With Tropical Storm Dorian to Present Extreme Storm Warnings in Florida

As we continue to keep an eye on Tropical Storm Dorian, Florida is expected to see a very stormy weekend ahead.

However, the storm will also be combined with “king tides”, resulting in even more extreme water and flooding hazards for the East Coast of Florida. Residents are advised to prepare their homes for potential damages that may be caused by the storm. They can hire professional roofers to reinforce their roofs or conduct a roof repair. Homeowners may also cut off tree branches that may damage windows and walls. Furthermore, if your gutters are in no condition to handle heavy rainfall, it may be time for a new seamless gutter installation. Replacing your gutter can be a tricky process, it’s best to always choose an expert gutter installation company to have the gutter replacement right the first time, every time.

Sun Sentinel goes in depth on what king tides are and how they can influence the weather by stating, king tides occur when the sun and moon are in a certain position causing abnormally large tides. When this is occurring, the moon is closest to the Earth and the Earth is closest to the Sun during their orbits.

The king tides began this Monday and are expected to carry on till next Tuesday, September 3rd.

Due to the combined heavy rainfall that could result from king tides and tropical storm Dorian, the National Hurricane Center predicts that we could see flooding more extreme than that of just a tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Dorian is still in the process of being tracked, it is still unsure if Florida is in the storms path but the National Hurricane Center is doing the best to keep everyone updated on the status of Dorian.
