Ariana Grande: 15 Things You Probably Didn’t Know

By Francia Rodriguez

Pop sensation Ariana Grande is no stranger to the Boca Raton area, as this is where she called home until she moved to L.A. The magazine Us Weekly recently released an article detailing 25 facts about the actress/singer’s life, and we are sharing some (and a few others they didn’t list) with you!

15. She used to collect Halloween masks.

Ariana’s mother was convinced the star would grow up into a serial killer because she enjoyed collecting scary masks and would wear them around the house. Please take a moment to imagine Ariana chasing after you with a knife and in go-go boots. She tries to go to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights every year.

14. Her iconic ponytail is to hide hair loss.

If you’re familiar with her old show Victorious, you should be aware that Ariana had to dye her hair red to play her character on an almost weekly basis. That was apparently a terrible idea, because now her hair is severely damaged.

13. She’s vegan.

As in, she doesn’t eat any animal products. At all. Ever. Before, she was a pescetarianism, which means she didn’t eat any animals except for fish.

12. Her favorite movie is Bruce Almighty.

11. She’s a hockey fan.

Ariana used to go to every home game of the Florida Panthers. She also kept getting hit with hockey pucks, which probably should have been a sign to stop going to every home game. When she was eight, she actually sang the National Anthem.

10. Gloria Estefan is a fan.

Ariana used to perform on cruise ships when she was a kid. The forever fabulous Gloria Estefan once saw one of these shows, and told Ariana that she’ll make it big one day. It is a testament to Ariana’s willpower that she did not faint on the spot.

9. She has four pet dogs.

They are all tiny dogs. Just in case you needed any more proof that she’s from Boca.

8. Ariana frequently plays Monopoly.

However, she is aware of its frightening ability to destroy everything that it touches.

7. Her favorite restaurant in Boca is “Stir Crazy.”

Her old pick from the menu was chicken, tofu, and brown rice, but that may have changed since she went vegan.

6. She was on Broadway.

Ariana had a role in the musical 13 while she was still in high school.

 5. She doesn’t like sleeping in clothes.

While most grandparents will repeatedly tell their grandkids about how amazing the good ol’ days were, Ariana’s grandma told her to sleep in as little clothing as possible.

4. She’s the first female artist to have her first two albums debut at number one since 2010.

Susan Boyle was the last woman to have earned this honor. The two ladies, along with LeAnn Rimes, are also the only ones to have more than one best selling album in less than a year.

3. Ariana is currently dating rapper Big Sean.

They’re cute, and hopefully this relationship doesn’t end as messily as Big Sean’s previous one with actress Naya Rivera did.

 2. She’s allergic to cats.

The irony being that the role that made her famous was playing a character named Cat. Apparently, what can kill you makes you stronger in this case.

1. Ariana attended North Broward Preparatory School.

Private school. The Boca Raton stereotype jokes write themselves. She had to stop actually attending because of #6 on this list, but the school continued to send her lessons as she was still enrolled. She graduated in 2012.
