Reports of gunman on FAU/Palm Beach State College campus in Boca Raton UPDATE

There are reports of a gunman on the Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach State College campuses in Boca Raton.

According to a Palm Beach State text alert sent out at 1:11 p.m., there is an armed intruder/shooter in the Arts and Letters building on the FAU campus.

The text of the alert:

11/29/12 1:11pm: Armed intruder/shooter reported on campus. We are now in Lockdown mode.

Information was also being shared on Facebook and Twitter.

The gunman suspected of robbing another student on the Boca Raton campus of FAU. The suspect placed a small handgun to the victim’s head and then fled on foot after taking some of the victim’s possessions. All campus entrances are closed. Cars are being allowed to exit campus through only the 10th and 13th street exits. All vehicles are being checked before leaving campus

Suspect is a black male with a green shirt/khaki. Approx. 5 ft. 10. Muscular build wearing a ski mask.

2:26: Text Alert from Palm Beach State College: “FAU Police Department has Information that the gunman might be on the Palm Beach State College grounds, if you’re there right now find shelter, and lock the doors.”
