Practice Your Putting at Boca Raton Museum of Art

By: Skip Sheffield

It may be the most fun exhibit ever at Boca Raton Museum of Art. “Big Art: Miniature Golf” invites you to practice your putting while appreciating the art of a dozen artists who have created original works in a variety of media for an indoor 12-hole course at the museum in Mizner Park. Yes, you are encouraged to play through. “They had a ball on opening night,” reports curator Kelli Bodle, who worked on the project for a year. “We had some professional golfers show up. They took it very seriously.”

The artists come from as near as Florida (Jeane Cooper of Boca Raton, Jeff Whipple of Jacksonville) and as far away as Oregon (Scott Mazariegos and John Larsen) and Hawaii (Robert Reed).

In addition to the golf-themed art there is the avian-themed “A Little Birdie Told Me,” featuring famous artists drawn from the museum’s permanent collection. Admission is $8 adults, $6 seniors, $4 students and groups and free for members and children. Call 561-392-2500 or go to www.bocamuseum.org.
