Governor DeSantis Presents a Clean Water Legislation for Florida

This Wednesday morning in Jupiter, Governor Ron DeSantis announced his legislation in a step closer to preserving Florida’s water based on the blue green algae task force.

The proposed legislation would mean further inspections, maintenance and replacement plans for current waste water systems, remedying the current policy requiring official intervention only in the occurrence of a spill.

In order for inspections to address environmental concerns, DeSantis’ legislation will transfer task to oversee residential septic tank installation inspections from the Department of Health to the Department of Environmental Protection.

Biosolids would also be regulated in an attempt to prevent them from seeping into waterways.

According to WPTV, DeSantis states he aims for an effective system to deal with the current issues and make improvements.
