Massive Wildfire Burning in Southern Palm Beach County

Southern Palm Beach wildfire is currently covering 1,700 acres and is burning 13 miles northwest of Coral Springs in the Loxahatchee Preserve, according to the Florida Forest Service.

The Florida Forest Service states that the fire was sparked by a lightning strike.

According to a spokesperson with the Florida Fire Service, the wildfire is burning in a conservation area in the Loxahatchee preserve. Officials are working to keep the fire contained and to ensure that it does not reach any roadways or buildings.

Southeast winds at 15 to 20 mph show that the wildfire smoke could be impacting the Southeast areas in Florida such as, Belle Glade and Lake Okeechobee.
