FPL Tree Removal in Boca Raton Raises Issues with Century Village Residents

Florida Power and Light began the process of removing invasive trees with the help of a tree removal service located near power lines on July 29th.

FPL is carrying out this project in order to strengthen main power lines that may otherwise be damaged by trees and growing vegetation.

According to WPTV, FPL is removing the vegetation to improve the services of more than 2,500 customers. FPL mentioned that they will have strengthened 145 main power lines in Palm Beach County by the end of this year.

However, local Century Village residents view this project as more of an eye-sore. The vegetation between East Village Drive and the Florida Turnpike that once made for a scenic and peaceful community is now stripped down and “ugly”.

Resident’s have express their discontent in the project resulting in lack of privacy for a once serene community and are trying to make their voices heard.

Do you feel that this FPL project will prove beneficial in the long-run or would you prefer a scenic environment?
