Best Buy Delivery Man Beats Elderly Woman in Her Boca Raton Home

21-year-old contracted Best Buy delivery worker, Jorge Dupre Lachazo, has been accused of beating and setting fire to elderly woman in her Boca Raton home.

Officers found the 75-year-old victim unconscious in her home in the Colonnades at Glen Oaks community, located on NW 49th Street, around 9:15 a.m. on Monday.

According to WPTV, Lachazo was installing a washer and dryer at the victims home with another delivery worker on Monday morning.

As a witness, the other delivery worker stated he stepped outside to answer some phone calls while Lachazo remained in the victims home.

The witness heard “multiple screams coming from the residence” when he re-entered the house to assess the situation. He noticed blood on the laundry room floor with the victim laying near it. Lachazo then got back in the truck and fled the scene.

According to the arrest report, Lachazo was stopped by officers in the 7100 block of W. Glades Road where he was reported to be acting shaky, sweaty and visibly nervous.

Lachazo admitted to hitting the victim in the head with a mallet and knocking her out. He then acquired a chemical from the garage and doused the room and victim with said chemical while all stove burners were turned on.

The victim suffered skull and facial fractures, as well as brain bleeding and third-degree burns on the majority of her body.

Lachazo’s fingerprints were found on the can of acetone. He is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older, as well as arson causing severe harm. However, the suspect could be facing many more charges following the death of the victim.

Best Buy has taken action by cutting ties with said subcontracted delivery company and is looking into hiring an independent security firm.

The Best Buy store in Boca Raton will be closing on Tuesday in order to respect the victim.
