Make the First Move: What to Do to Get a Step Closer to Success

I was reading through the past few Monday Motivation posts by Rene and I was very inspired. Life has so much to offer and it is up to us to grab hold of the best opportunities. Of course, it is never going to be easy, or perfect, but we can always take another step to get closer to success.

It’s the first step that counts. Making the first move is always the most difficult part of the process. I’ve learned a lot from my own experiences and I’m going so share these next few tips to help you make your own first move and be that much closer to the future you want.

Shape a Future

It is not uncommon for women, especially moms, to abandon some of their dreams for many reasons. When you have a child to take care, for example, going back to school or staying on track with your career may no longer be a priority.

At some point, however, you’ll regain the time you need to pursue these dreams. Kids will eventually leave the nest and you will have to find new things to do with your free time. Fortunately, you have complete control over the kind of future you want for yourself.

Find abandoned dreams – or new ones – you want to pursue and work out ways to get to them. If you’ve been wanting to travel, for example, you can start by researching the best destinations to visit. Set goals and write down the steps to take in order to achieve them.

Take a Leap. A Big One.

The first step you take towards achieving your dream doesn’t have to be a small one either. You have the ability and the power to make a big leap and be even closer to shaping the perfect future. Even better, the world is filled with opportunities that will help you make that leap without a problem.

A friend of mine recently decided to enroll in the Arizona State University’s online nursing program. She was nowhere near the university, but she is working as a registered nurse. As it turns out, there is an online accelerated nursing program that will allow her to become a Bachelor of Science in as little as 12 months.

Opportunities like this are very easy to find. Universities are opening up distance learning programs in various majors. There are other leaps to take, too. You can, for example, start your own online business or pursue a career you have always wanted.

Stay True to Your Goals

As I said before, it is not always going to be easy. While there are a lot of opportunities to explore, you still have to be willing to invest your time and energy towards achieving your goals. What’s important is that you stay true to them.
