Boy, 15, in Fatal Boca Car Chase Charged as Adult

The 15-year-old whom police say was driving a stolen car when it crashed into another motorist and killed her Nov. 1 has been charged as an adult, according to the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office.

Wesley Brown of Deerfield Beach was charged Nov. 20 with vehicular homicide, fleeing or attempting to elude a marked police car and driving without a valid driver’s license.

He was being held in juvenile custody since the crash.

Police say the 2016 Ford Mustang Brown was driving was reported stolen from a valet attendant at the Addison Events Center. Two men went up to a valet, one pointed a gun at him, took his cellphone and the keys to the car and drove off, police said.  Hours later, investigators tracked the phone to Deerfield Beach, where Broward County sheriff’s deputies found it, but no suspects.

At about 11 p.m., police spotted the Mustang in the 1400 block of Northwest Second Avenue, north of Glades Road and tried to stop the driver.  Brown took off speeding south on Northwest Second Avenue and crashed into Harris-Aceves’ silver Honda Pilot at the intersection with Palmetto Park Road near City Hall. She died at the scene, investigators said. It was not clear if there was a pursuit before the crash.

According to court records, Brown had stolen other cars three times this year before the Nov. 1 crash.

His rap sheet also includes nine arrests between Oct. 31, 2012 and Aug. 14, 2015, He was placed on probation in October 2014 for numerous convictions, including marijuana possession, battery and trespassing, according to official court documents.

Jacquan Strowbridge, 20, the passenger in the Mustang, ran from the scene. Police quickly caught him.

Investigators have not charged Strowbridge. However, he remains a person of interest in the case, police said. Strowbridge, who has a checkered past dating back to 2011, is on probation after being released from prison in July for kidnapping and armed robbery, records show.
