     In addition to the announcement last week that Benihana is slated to go into the former Denny’s in the Westwind Shopping Center at the southeast corner of 441 and Glades Road, the new building just built in front will house Pei Wei, Verizon, Mattress Direct, Vision Works and European Wax.

 

     The Boca Del Mar Improvement Association has dropped its suit against building on the closed Mizner Trail golf course, paving the way for the development to proceed of new homes, town houses and condominiums on the 130 acre site.

 

    Town Center at Boca Raton plans to relocate valet parking areas and reconfigure the main entrance area on the north side of the mall, after City Council approved an amended site plan.

 

     Critics are calling the golden parachutes for top brass Office Depot execs who are slated to stash an eye-popping $85 million in severance if the takeover by Staples goes through obscene. CEO Roland Smith, who has been with the firm only 18 months, pockets the largest chunk of $46 million, while the proposed merger will close hundreds of stores, lay off thousands of people and hundreds at Boca Raton’s Office Depot headquarters wiped out. The FTC is also requesting additional information, which will delay the merger further and could still be denied.

 

    Palm Beach County schools may have to repay $178,000 to the federal government after an audit found improper expenses made during hurricanes Jeanne and Wilma.
