Three teens rescued from capsized boat in Boca Inlet

BOCA RATON – Boca Raton firefighters rescued three teenagers unharmed after their board capsized in Boca Inlet about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Public Information Officer Frank Correggio said rescuers responded to a call of a capsized boat in the Inlet at 1100 South Ocean Blvd.  Firefighters arrived within minutes and found the 17-foot water craft capsized, with three youths wearing personal flotation devices clinging to the hull.

Correggio said it appears the boat was struck by a wave, causing it to overturn.  Boca Raton Ocean Rescue was on scene attending to the victims prior to the arrival of Fire Rescue.

With the help of Ocean Rescue, the fire crew from Boat 3, Boca Raton Fire Rescue’s fire rescue boat, attached a tow line to the capsized vessel and assisted the victims into Boat 3.
