Manhunt Continues for Five Suspects After Shooting at University Park

Police are still searching for 5 suspects wanted in the fatal shooting at a public student housing complex Tuesday night.

Boca Raton Police responded to a report of gunshots heard at 135 NW 20th Street at the University Park public student housing Street at 7:20 p.m.

FAU students received an alert to the shooting around 8 p.m., telling them to stay inside their apartments and lock their doors. Residents who were originally not allowed back into the complex have now been allowed to return.

Police found a 19-year-old male suffering from at least two gunshot wounds to the torso. The victim was rushed to Delray Beach Medical Center where he died.

At this time, it’s still unclear whether the 19-year-old killed was an FAU student or resident at University Park.

By this morning, investigators have cleared the area, but University Park security has placed orange cones around the entrances and are allowing only residents to access the property.

Boca Raton police chief Daniel C. Alexander told reporters police are looking for five people believed to be involved in the incident. Alexander said police do have leads, but did not provide any information regarding the five presumed suspects who fled the area after the shooting.

Police say a female witness at the scene told investigators she was familiar with at least one of the suspects involved.
