Boca Raton Public Library – Downtown

Hosts Military Intel: Veterans’ Information Event

Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 1:00–3:00pm

(Boca Raton, FL) – The Boca Raton Public Library will host an information event for veterans of all ages at the Downtown Library on November 14, 2018 from 1:00–3:00pm. Since November 2016, the BRPL’s Military Intel programs have provided veterans and their families with information about benefits, counseling, jobs and more. “The BRPL is happy to bring together these excellent organizations so that our veterans may explore and learn more about the many programs and benefits available to them,” notes Laura Sparrow, Navy (Ret), Supervisor of Account Services. “These short introductions to resources have proved to be beneficial to the veterans and their family members, and the Library will continue its outreach and programming on behalf of the veteran community in Boca Raton.” Presenters from the following organizations include:

Pompano Beach Vet Center

Vet Centers guide veterans and their families through many of the major lifestyle adjustments that often occur after a return from combat. Services may include individual and group counseling in areas such as PTSD, alcohol and drug assessment, and suicide prevention referrals. All services are free of cost and strictly confidential.

PBC Division of Human & Veteran Services

Human & Veteran Services assists and counsels former and current members of the Armed Forces who reside in Palm Beach County. Services include assistance in preparing and filing claims for benefits for which they are entitled under federal, state, and local laws. Dependents and survivors of present or former members of the Armed Forces may be eligible for the services of this program.

VFW Post 10556

VFW in the park fosters camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts; serves our veterans, the military and our communities; and advocates on behalf of all veterans. We endeavor to help every veteran, spouse, and family when in need. We also participate in local veteran affairs and community events.

Connected Warriors, Inc.

Connected Warriors provides evidence-based, trauma-conscious yoga therapy programs for service members, veterans and their families while establishing a new and progressive safe-haven community for all military members, families and volunteers worldwide.
