Committee Honors Landscape Excellence

The Landscape Excellence Awards are awarded every year by the Boca Raton Beautification Committee.

During the year, the 12 volunteers keep their eyes open as they drive around the city for landscaping they think might be worthy of an award, the group then discusses at its semimonthly meetings to see who deserves the awards.

The recognition encourages businesses, churches, homeowners associations and schools in the city to improve their landscaping and add to the beauty of Boca Raton.

The mission of the Beautification Committee is to educate residents and business on the proper selection and pruning of landscape material to foster public awareness, understanding and appreciation of proper tree care, to promote higher standards of landscape design along right-of-ways and medians, to actively encourage preservation, and to increase the tree canopies within the City of Boca Raton.

Barbara Benefield and Richard Randall are the Co-Chairs of the Committee. The remainder of the Committee members are Florence Fishlock, Elba M Hussey, Bob Jennings, Jo-Ann Landon, Johann Leigh, Sandra Manning, Susan Pelish, Eve Reed, Ruth Smith, Joan Weidenfeld and Ann Fairfax Wood.

Lang Realty and Lang Management Company hosted a special luncheon for this year’s winners, city officials, and city staff following the ceremony.
