Lynn University to present award-winning singer Sally Mayes in concert

tn-500_img_4840Lynn University and producer Jan McArt present Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Cabaret at Lincoln Center starring Sally Mayes, at Lynn University on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Called “a singer of incandescent ebullience, deliciously saucy” by The New York Times, Mayes’ performance won critical praise along with a Theatre World Award and Outer Critics Circle nomination as one of Broadway’s outstanding newcomers.

On Broadway, Mayes is perhaps best known for her performance in the Roundabout Theatre revival of She Loves Me for which she received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations. Urban Cowboy also garnered a Drama Desk nomination as Featured Actress in a Musical. She most recently appeared in Steel Magnolias, and drew raves as Mae West in the National Tour of Dirty Blonde.

Her film and television credits include City Hall and Bye Bye Birdie, Law and Order Criminal Intent, and Sex And the City. Mayes also appears on countless cast recordings, received rave reviews from coast to coast for her nightclub appearances, has been nominated for12 Manhattan Association of Cabaret (MAC) awards and won two Bistros for excellence in Cabaret and recording.

People magazine describes her as “the kind of rich theatrical voice that elevates a show tune.”
