10 Well-Known Names Who Call Boca Raton Home

  1. Sheryl Sandberg COO of FacebookRanked Forbes fifth most powerful woman in the world, Sandberg has a resume to match. Currently the chief operating officer of Facebook, she has worked at Google as Vice President of Global Online Sales and served as chief of staff of the US Secretary of the Treasury.  This Harvard graduate is estimated to be worth over one billion. Sandberg is just one of many well-known names to call Boca Raton home.
  2. Jozy Altidore FootballerAltidore’s journey to success began on the soccer fields of Boca Raton. From playing for the Boca Raton Juniors Club to playing for Team USA, Altidore left Boca as a teenager to begin training. Altidore has represented the United States on various levels, having played in the Beijing Olympics as well as several FIFA World Cups. He remembers his roots and returns to Boca to hold local soccer camps for kids.
  3. Ian BishopFootballerYet another decorated footballer to call Boca Raton home is Ian Bishop. Bishop has played for over 10 professional teams like Manchester City, Miami Fusion, Carlisle United, among others. Now 49, Bishop has hung his hat in retirement in South Florida and continues to coach camps locally.
  4. Alfred MorrisNFL football playerNow on his third season for the Washington Redskins, American football player Alfred Morris got his start at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. With multiple impressive statistics to his name, Morris is another local success story. He was named to the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2013 at number sixty four and finished fourth in the league in rushing yardage.
  5. Adam SandlerActorFormer Saturday Night Live member, actor Adam Sandler has made a name for himself in Hollywood. With a combined filmography estimated to have grossed over two million at the box office, he has become both a household and local name. Sandler formed his own film production company, Happy Madison Productions. Sandler’s family also lives locally; he recently bought his mother an apartment at The Parker, an exclusive low-rose here in Boca Raton.
  6. Shannon Woodward

    Actress Shannon Woodward, best known for her role on Raising Hope is an Olympic High School graduate. It was there she began acting and eventually caught the attention of Nickelodeon’s casting directors, which landed her a role on the popular 90’s show, Clarissa Explains It All. She also made appearances on shows like Malcolm in the Middle, Law and Order, and Criminal Minds.

  7. Ariana Grande

    Singer-songwriter/actress

    Singer-songwriter and actress Ariana Grande grew up in Boca Raton and attended North Broward Preparatory School. Grande reached commercial success after her album, Yours Truly, was certified double platinum and became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. She is also known for her role on the Nickelodeon show, Victorious. Her new album My Everything is set the release on August 25.

  8. Jon Bon Jovi

    Another notable Boca Raton resident and member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame is Jon Bon Jovi. To date, Bon Jovi has sold 130 million albums worldwide, making him one of the world’s bestselling music artists.  He is ranked number fifty on Billboard magazine’s “Power 100”, a list of the most powerful and influential in the music business. The New Jersey native now has a residence here in Boca Raton.

  9. Nicko McBrainMusicianNicko McBrain, an English musician, is best known as the drummer of the heavy metal band, Iron Maiden. He has contributed to a total of twelve studio releases with the band. This Boca Raton resident purchased his home in October of 1989 for an estimated $244,900 and also owns a condo in the area.
  10. Alex Suarez & Ryland Blackinton

    Bassist and lead guitar of Cobra Starship

    Both Olympic Heights High School grads, Suarez and Blackinton found fame as members of the alternative dance band, Cobra Starship. The two met in high school where they bonded over their passion for music. After graduation, the two fell out of touch for seven years as Suarez pursued a culinary career and Blackinton pursued acting at Florida State University. The two reconvened in Brooklyn to form Cobra Starship.
