The sold-out 7th Annual Go Pink Luncheon is South Florida’s premier event for women’s health education and wellness and was held on Thursday October 28th at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The afternoon was filled with amazing speakers, including Dr. Louise Morrell, the newly named Medical Director of the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute in the Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Pavilion, a delectable luncheon, and the fabulous Mercedes Benz of Delray Pink Daisy Pick Raffle. The Luncheon benefits Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation’s Go Pink Challenge, an initiative that raises awareness and funds in support of the Institute for Women’s Health & Wellness and the Lynn Cancer Institute.

Fran Drescher was this year’s keynote speaker and her message was: Cancer Schmancer!

A sold-out crowd of 1,400 were amazed and ultimately inspired by actress and cancer survivor Fran Drescher, best known as the lovable “Miss Fine” on the 90s hit series The Nanny. In 2000, Drescher was diagnosed with uterine cancer after enduring two years of symptoms and eight different doctors before the cancer was discovered. She has been cancer free ever since, and authored the NY Times bestseller Cancer Schmancer in 2002, about her experiences as a cancer patient. Today, she is an outspoken advocate for cancer awareness and early detection as well as patient empowerment and founded the Cancer Schmancer Movement and the Cancer Schmancer Foundation.

Her mission is to help women evolve from patients to medical consumers, and to refocus the nation’s attention on prevention and early detection instead of seeking a cure for all forms of cancer.  “We need to take control of our bodies, become greater partners with our physicians and galvanize as one to let our legislators know that the collective female vote is louder and more powerful than that of the richest corporate lobbyists.” – Fran Drescher,
