Tropical Storm Nestor Has Formed

For the past couple of days, officials have been keeping a close eye on a new storm system that has now reportedly formed into a tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Nestor has now officially formed in the Gulf of Mexico, with wind speeds reaching 60 mph.

The National Hurricane Center shows Nestor is moving towards the northeast Gulf at 22 mph with tropical force winds extending 175 miles from the center.

Floridians may want to keep an eye on this storm as it is predicted to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle as early as Saturday morning with 65 mph wind speeds.

According to the Miami Herald, tropical storm warnings and storm surge watches have been issued for majority of the Gulf states.

Florida’s storm surge warnings are currently in action from Indian Pass to Clearwater beach, with an estimated 3 to 5 feet of surge.

Northern and Central Florida may also be expecting two to four inches of rain within the coming weekend.
