As Florida was spared the wrath of Dorian, the hurricanes coastal path littered and weathered our beaches.
Not only did our local beaches lose 1 million cubic yards of sand but the hurricane also caused an influx of litter and debris.
According to CBS 12 News Benji Studt, of the Environmental Resources Management Department, encourages cleanup before the litter starts to negatively impact fish and wildlife.
Studt observed ocean plastics such as straws and other debris that could severely harm wildlife.
The Environmental Resources Management Department is looking for volunteers willing to assist in the beach cleanups occurring on Saturday, September 7, from 8:00 a.m – 10:00 a.m.
