Palm Beach County Hurricane Shelters Open as Dorian Approaches

The projected path of Hurricane Dorian shows the impact to Florida occurring at the start of next week.

As locals prep for the storm, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, states that Palm Beach County shelters will begin opening on Sunday morning.

Sun Sentinel describes 205,000 people currently in evacuation zones in the county. Local shelters are increasing to accommodate this large number.

Palm Beach County currently has 15 general shelters, here are some locations of the following:

Broward County is not counting on opening all of their 33 shelters and are requiring that individuals with special needs pre-register through calling: 954-831-3902.

As far as pet shelters go, pets must be accompanied by only one owner that can stay inside the shelter.
