We know you’ve got your eye on Hurricane Dorian, and we do too. The City of Boca Raton is working closely with Palm Beach County Emergency Management in preparation for Hurricane Dorian. The storm is expected to make landfall along the east coast of Florida on Monday, September 2 (Labor Day), as a Category 4.
We are monitoring the storm track carefully, and have declared a State of Emergency, which allows the City to take actions necessary to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the community. City officials met this morning and have begun preparations in all departments. For now, City services, including sanitation, are operating according to regular schedules through Friday, but meeting and event cancellations, as well as facility closures, are likely. As a reminder, the City of Boca Raton was already scheduled to be closed in observance of Labor Day.
