Dorian Could Make Landfall as a Category 3 Storm

Everyone has been keeping a close eye on the development of Tropical Storm Dorian, but as it turns out Dorian could become a Category 3 storm.

A storm falls under “Category 3” when the winds range from 111 to 129 mph, strong enough to cause a fair amount of destruction.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Dorian could make landfall as a potential Category 3 hurricane.

Officials are assessing the impacts that a category 3 hurricane could cause such as unavailable water and electricity for several days.

The latest cone map tracking Dorian shows it’s center hitting the Cape Canaveral area on Florida’s east coast.

Dorian’s arrival to Florida is still uncertain, as hurricanes usually present a short term notice. However, many are anticipating Dorian hitting the east coast of Florida as soon as Sunday.

With the storms pending arrival, Florida residents are urged to have a preparedness plan ready, including supplies and shelter.

Officials are closely monitoring the storm but can ensure that Dorian will bring 4 to 8 inches of rain, drenching the Florida peninsula.
