BOCA REGIONAL HITS THE GROUND AND ‘RUNS FOR THE RIBBONS’ Event proceeds support Lynn Cancer Institute’s Patient Resource Fund

BOCA RATON, Fla. –  Boca Raton Regional Hospital will be hitting the ground running – as it presents the first annual Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute (LCI) ‘Run 4 The Ribbons’ on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 7:00am. The 5k walk/run will start at the Sandler Pavilion (701 NW 13th Street, Boca Raton), continue through Old Floresta and finish at the Sandler Pavilion. A 1-mile walk/run course is also available starting and ending at the Sandler Pavilion. The proceeds raised will help support LCI’s Patient Resource Fund.

The Lynn Cancer Institute developed this special fund through the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation. It provides disadvantaged cancer patients help with non-clinical expenses such as gas, transportation, groceries, and other incidentals incurred during the course of their treatment.

“In today’s environment, patients have fallen into the ever-expanding gap of not meeting criteria for government support,” says Darci McNally, Director of Multmodality Clinic at the Lynn Cancer Institute, event founder, participant, and organizer. “Many patients are unable to continue to work and therefore lack or suffer reduction in income. These patients become unable to manage the additional burden and expenses of going through cancer treatment.”

Post-event food and refreshments will be available. Vendors and the Boca Raton Regional Hospital HealthVan will also be onsite. To participate in Run 4 The Ribbons or for more information contact Ms. Darci McNally at 561-955-4501.

Editors Note: The run begins at 7:00am and starts and ends at the Sandler Pavilion. Media are invited to attend. Reporters will be able to interview runners and Hospital staff. Contact Marlene Moni at 561.955.5627.
