Boca’s “Idol” Returns as 29 Talented Teen Acts Compete on Stage in “Future Stars”
March 7 in Festival of the Arts
Boca Raton, FL – Middle and high school performers will vie in the 19th “Future Stars Performing Arts Competition” 7 p.m. Tuesday March 7 in the tented and seated Mizner Park Amphitheater as part of Festival of the Arts BOCA for the first time.
Tradition is cheering on their favorites, and most audience members’ seating is free. The Rotary Club of Boca Raton organizes the show, hosted by the city of Boca Raton and with professional sound and lighting. “ ‘Future Stars’ is a community event with an expected capacity crowd that includes performers’ families, friends, vocal and dance teachers and supporters,” said Julie Vianale, event co-chair.
Dancers and singers will compete in these categories for medals awarded at the finale.

Among judges for show night are dance and vocal professionals and educators, including Billboard Performing Star vocalist and “Future Stars” alumnus Kendra Erika; Joanna Marie Kaye, executive director Festival of the Arts BOCA; and Dr. Stacie Lee Rossow, associate director of Choral of Vocal Studies and associate professor at Florida Atlantic University.
Many “Future Stars” alumni have gone on to college-level study at prestigious music and dance programs and professional careers in the performing arts. “Future Stars” began 19 years ago when Rotary member Rick Taylor’s daughter was a budding high school vocalist. Taylor believed that talented young people deserved better to showcase their talents. The mission of Rotary’s “Future Stars Performing Arts Competition” is not only to give South Florida’s talented high school and middle school performers a professional quality production. The club also helps many of the show’s performers by providing college scholarships so they can follow their dream of a career in the performing arts.
