Message from the CEO: Moving Business Forward

In the continuing effort to roll out COVID vaccinations, and based on the Governor’s Executive Order 20-315, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County is launching a program to streamline the process for providers, giving guidance to vaccinate individuals in the following groups:

  • Long-term care facility residents and staff
  • Persons 65 years of age and older
  • Health care personnel with direct patient contact
  • Persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers

If these criteria are not met and an email has been sent to the Department of Health, the email will not be retained in the system. As the state moves through the next phases of vaccination rollout, additional people will be eligible to re-register. While waiting for an appointment, visit palmbeach.floridahealth.gov to read the COVID-19 vaccine screening and consent form, which is available in English, Spanish, and Creole. This form will need to be completed on the day you receive the vaccine. To schedule an appointment, click here and complete the request form which will be placed in a virtual waiting room until vaccines become available.

FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine has found a simpler way to test for COVID in saliva, making it quicker for labs to get results. Using vials that have chemicals mixed in can help keep samples longer and reduces the risk for lab technicians. FAU is sharing this new technology with medical communities across the country. Several clinics and hospitals are now using this testing option. Currently, FAU is working to make this technology easily adaptable for smaller laboratories.
