President Donald Trump is no stranger to Florida as him and his family frequently visit his Mar-a-Lago property in West Palm Beach.
As a result, heightened security in the area is a necessity to the President’s safety and the city of West Palm Beach plans to ask the federal government for reimbursement for this safety.
City Commissoners have agreed to vote on a resolution on Monday at 5 p.m. and will submit a grant application for around $58,000.
They will be organizing this application for what is called a Presidential Residence Protection Assistance Grant which will be sent to the Uniter States Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The specifics of this grant application include a request for reimbursement for police department overtime from October 2018 to September 2019 in relation to efforts associated with protecting the president in Palm Beach County.
