The Alzheimer’s Association®, again, invited Boca Raton residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The Walk took place Sunday, at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton.

Participants honored those affected by Alzheimer’s disease with Promise Flowers during the poignant Promise Garden Ceremony – a moving display of hope to represent the personal reasons participants come together to fight Alzheimer’s.

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

While there was no fee to register, the Alzheimer’s Association encouraged participants to fundraise to contribute to the cause and raise awareness.

This event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease!

More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 16 million family members and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Florida alone, there are more than 560,000 people living with the disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®; now the Alzheimer’s Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s.

The Alzheimer’s Association® is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s®. Visit www.alz.org or call 800.272.3900.

Sharon DiPietro was the featured speaker at the Gold Coast Tiger Bay Club this week. Her passion for animals was infectious as we listened to her detail how Tri-County Animal Rescue works its magic to nurse animals to health and prepare them for their fur-ever home.

The capital campaign to expand the facilities will enable TCAR to continue its sacred mission!

Tri-County Animal Rescue is a 100% no-kill, nonprofit 501(c)3 animal shelter working to prevent the killing of over 170,000 unwanted pets in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties each year.

Since inception, they have saved over 53,000 domestic animals from being euthanized, placing them in homes through our adoption center.

TCAR also works with several organizations, businesses, and the local school district to educate the community on animal awareness.

TCAR believes every cat and dog—regardless of breed, gender, temperament, etc—deserves to live a happy and healthy life. Their mission aims to shelter and provide a comfortable home for all animals placed in their facility.

TCAR considers every animal that comes to their shelter a member of their family, loving and caring for them with the utmost respect and tenderness until they can place them in their safe, happy, fur-ever homes.
