School Shooting Suspect Nikolas Cruz Leaves Court Hearing

On Friday, Parkland school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz was required to appear in court for the first time in a long while.

Upon arriving to his hearing, Cruz showed his discontent with being present and told Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer he did not want to be there.

The hearing concerned his alleged assault on a jail corrections officer.

According to WPTV, Cruz was eventually granted dismissal from the Friday hearing and was asked to leave by Judge Scherer.

There are no further details from Judge Scherer on whether Nikolas Cruz must partake in his Feb. 14 hearing on shooting and killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

As a reminder, Cruz faces the death penalty if convicted and was denied a life prison sentence.

The jury selection for Cruz’s trial will begin in the new year on January 27th.
