Boca Raton City Leaders Request a New Architect for Boca National Golf Course

Previous meetings between Boca Raton City Council members and the Boca Beach and Parks District reflected Boca’s concern to lower the estimated price of the Boca National Golf Course.

The City Council decided to brainstorm on some ideas to lower the cost from the estimated $13 million presented by the Price/Fazio design.

Andy Thomson, City Councilman, suggested the city put out a request for proposal in order to lower the costs.

On the Tuesday night joint meeting between the City Council and the Boca Beach and Parks District, the idea for an RFP was approved.

In regards to the current project’s architects, Price/Fazio can submit in the new RFP and have the option to be compared to the resented from the RFP for the best golf course design.

According to WPTV, this decision left the President of Golf Association Greg Galanis, feeling betrayed. Being so far into the process and proposal and to have to start over is a lot of work.

As of right now, there is no specific timeline in which the RFP process may be completed but at the meeting it was estimated at six months.

Do you think the City Council made the right decision for the RFP?
