Due to Friday’s vote by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, majority of train fares will be increasing with the start of the new year.
An 8 to 1 vote lead to board approval of these fare price changes that were last increased in 2009.
According to Sun Sentinel, one-way fares are increasing by 60 cents up to $1.85 for trips crossing four to six zones.
Round-trip tickets will increase between 60 cents and $5.95.
12-trip tickets will be going up 41 percent to 82 percent at $8.75 and $47.50. Whereas the cost of one-way passengers traveling to three zones or less remains steady at $5 or $2.50 one way.
