Palm Health Foundation Launches Train the Brain Monthlong Campaign

With Free Activities and Guides to Improve Brain Health

Boca Raton, FL – Palm Health Foundation has launched its month-long October Train the Brain community health campaign with a goal to improve Palm Beach County residents’ brain health. The 2019 theme is “Brain Health in the Workplace,” created for employers to support employee wellness. The foundation is offering a free Train the Brain Wellness Kit full of helpful tips for organizations and individuals and partnering with community organizations to provide a host of activities throughout the month.  Visit www.TraintheBrainPBC.org to download the kit and register for the following events:

+ Train the Brain Art Meditation Experience

Ellaine Peck, art therapist and licensed mental health counselor, will guide attendees through a visual journaling workshop. Visual journaling is designed to allow participants to take a “brain break” and express their emotions without words. *Registration Required*

+ Train the Brain at Keiser University: Mindfulness & the Concussed Brain

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
A two-part presentation featuring Sarah Crane, executive director of the HOW foundation and Gus Castellanos, retired neurologist and mindfulness intervention & program teacher. Dr. Castellanos will speak on mindfulness – what it is and what it isn’t, the research, benefits, practice and tools for stress reduction and overall wellness. Ms. Crane will speak on traumatic brain injuries and the interventions and therapies needed to address them.

+ Healthier Jupiter Community Grants BBQ

Healthier Jupiter is offering mini-grants to impact the health of the greater Jupiter community. This will culminate in a BBQ at which organizations will share their proposed projects, science-fair style, and the community will vote for the projects they wish to see funded.
