Boynton Beach Mayor Considers a New Name for the “Town Square” Project

About 20 years ago when the project planning for Boynton Beach’s new downtown began, the name was already chosen.

But as the project progresses, Boynton Beach Mayor Steven Grant is hesitant to call this a “square”.

In October, Mayor Grant had proposed the name change at the commission meeting but many were not taking to it as he hoped.

A lot of people felt there was no point in changing the already solid “Town Square” name.

Many residents took to Facebook in an attempt to brainstorm for a new name.

According to WPTV, the suggestions consisted of “City Center”, “City Square” or “Downtown Boynton.”

Mayor Grant evidently stated that he would like to incorporate the voices of the public in the decision for the vote on the final name.

Further details will be available after the City Commissioners meeting in November, where they are expected to discuss said name change.
