Another Boca Raton Middle School Lockdown After Prank Phone Call to Police

As of recently, Palm Beach County Schools have been undergoing a great deal of lockdowns following threats and phone calls made to local officers.

Yesterday, Friday afternoon, Palm Beach County officers received a 9-1-1 call about a shooting at Loggers’ Run Middle School in Boca Raton.

More than 30 deputies, EMS, and members of county fire responded to the call at Loggers’ Run.

As a result, the Middle School was put under code red lockdown as a preventative measure.

According to WPTV, the call was said to be a prank and the Palm Beach County Schools police are currently seeking information on who made the call.

Under new Florida law, prank calls of terroristic threats by phone and social media are viewed as second-degree felonies.

Loggers Run’ Middle School Principal, Krista Hierholzer, sent out a statement following the lockdown. She stated, “…a prank call prompted a large police presence on campus and the school went into lockdown.”

Hierholzer also mentioned, “This prank caused unnecessary fear into our community…”

In order to remedy this, there will be school counselors and district support available to any students that may need to discuss anything on Monday.
