Where Were You Last Week?

Ira and June Gelb with Marilyn and Jay Weinberg

The week was still quiet as we reconstructed our social calendar due to Dorian’s unwelcome arrival. On Thursday evening, it was time to help kick off the 5th Annal Boca Raton Mayors Ball. The event was held at Saks Fifth Avenue. Hosted by Heather Shaw, General Manager for Saks in Boca Raton the evening was attended by former Mayors of Boca Raton, past Honorees, this year’s Honorees and Downtown Rotary members.

Michael Walstrom, Terry and Jerry Fedele, Dyana Kenney with Bobby Campbell

In four hors year, this has become one of the signature fundraising events foe our community, produced by the Rotary Club of Downtown Boca Raton.

This black-tie event celebrates all that is great about our city. Through their partnership with the Boca Raton Historical Society the event highlights the storied history of our favorite Florida small town.

Yvette Drucker, Heather Shaw and Stacey Packer

Each year at the Mayors Ball the George Long Award is presented to individuals and institutions that have gone above and beyond to make Boca Raton the greatest place to live, work, learn, play and invest.

The evening will be co-chaired by Dyana Kenney and Michael F. Walstrom with Terry and Jerry Fedele acting as the honorary chairs.

Proceeds from the Boca Raton Mayors Ball are directed to local nonprofits focused on health and wellness initiatives through the Rotary’s “Service Above Self” grant program.

Go Pink Luncheon – Oct 18th at 11AM Boca Raton Resort & Club

Join South Florida’s premier breast cancer awareness event as we welcome multi-talented actor, comedian, producer, writer, and physician Dr. Ken Jeong!

In 2008, Dr. Ken Jeong’s wife, Dr. Tran Ho was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, their twin girls just one year old at the time. Dr. Jeong will share his experience and incredible story as caregiver to his wife all while balancing the roles of husband, father, and actor. Dr. Ken Jeong’s appearance is made possible thanks to the support of the Edward and Freyda Burns Enhanced Living Initiative. This incredible luncheon will feature all your favorites, a fabulous “pink” amenity, the amazing Saks Pink Daisy Pick Raffle, Wall of Strength for tributes to your favorite people and so much more! Community Philanthropist, Patti Carpenter serves as the luncheon Chair. All proceeds benefit cancer programs at Boca Raton Regional Hospital to fund critically important breast cancer detection and treatment initiatives.
