Inadequate Security Training for Palm Beach County Schools May Lead to State Law

The school shooting at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas brought about a Safety Act associated with properly training school security guard personnel.

However, when the Palm Beach County School District hired a private Boynton Beach firm called “Invictus”, the PBC Sheriff’s Office had to take over.

According to WPTV, the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office determined Invictus to be an inadequate training program.

Due to this discovery, the Florida Senate education committee met for the first time to establish groundwork for the 2020 legislative session.

The State Senate hopes to come up with a solution, which at the moment includes considering the implementation of security guards, one that may allow the state to stay ahead of these types of issues.
