Florida’s Newly Expanded Texting While Driving Law to be Implemented Tomorrow

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of serious vehicle accidents and Florida is looking to remedy the issue.

Although a “no texting while driving” law has previously been implemented in the state of Florida, October 1st will see a newly expanded law.

The newly expanded law will be enforced to prohibit the use of handheld wireless devices while driving in school zones, school crossings and work zones.

The law is essentially encouraging hands-free devices and banning the use of phones of devices while driving.

According to Sun Sentinel, although the law goes into effect on October 1st, tickets will not be given out to violators until the start of the new year.

The tickets issued to violators will consist of a moving violation with three points against the driver’s license.
