Florida is Doubling Efforts to Eliminate Invasive Burmese Pythons

In the past couple of months, it has come to our attention that invasive Burmese Pythons must be hunted in order to eliminate consequences that they may cause.

A month after Governor Ron DeSantis reached out for more hunters, The South Florida Water Management District Governing Board agreed to double the number.

On Thursday, September 12, the Board worked towards an agreement with federal agencies to allow more access to land for hunters.

According to WPTV, staff members also worked with the University of Florida to establish a more effective way of reptile monitoring in order to evaluate removal efforts.

For those wondering, the District pays trained hunters an hourly wage and a bounty based on the sizes of the snakes.
