Boca Raton Garden Club to Hold Annual Holiday House Bazaar in November

By Pamela J Weinroth

With Hurricane Dorian still churning in the Atlantic, it’s good to look beyond our current weather and think about the events planned for the months ahead when the summer humidity breaks.

The Boca Raton Garden Club has announced it will be holding its annual Holiday House Bazaar at the club’s clubhouse (located at 4281 NW 3rd Ave Boca Raton FL) from Friday November 1st through Sunday November 3rd.  from 9AM to 3PM.

According to Garden Club President Nancy Richards, crafters have been creating handmade items since May. They will have seasonal decorations for Thanksgiving, Hanukah and Christmas, as well as unusual creations for year round enjoyment.  She noted, “Our ‘elves’ specialize in unique pieces that cannot be found elsewhere.”

“Holiday House is our club’s biggest fundraiser”, added Nancy.  “In addition to the bazaar, we also hold a bake sale of homemade goodies, and a plant sale.   Sales from this event fund our community programs such as the garden therapy program at FAU’s Memory Center, youth gardening at local schools, environmental camp Wekiva, university scholarships and educational programs to name a few.”

Holiday House Co-Chair, Mary Kaub, noted  “We have lots of unique new crafts for sale this year- for example ‘People Planters’ made from terracotta pots, hand painted with heads, hands and dangling legs. They’re sure to be big sellers.”  Co-Chair Patty Moum added, “Also new this year our members have made one of a kind mobiles,  wind chimes and other gifts from natural woods, plant materials and shells.  We also have a large selection of embroidered  and handmade  items – jewelry  bags, aprons, and casserole carriers – a very popular gift!”

Cindy Puiatti, Bake Sale Chair, exclaimed, “ Our Bake Sale gets bigger every year with more and more of our members baking and donating their homemade specialties.  It’s so easy to pick up pies, cookies, cakes and breads and freeze them for the Holidays! Come early because we always sell out!”

“In addition to the all the wonderful crafts and homemade goodies,” said Landscaping Chairman, Joan Witter, “we again are holding a huge plant sale Friday Nov 1stand   Saturday  Nov 2nd  in our club’s beautiful gardens. There will be no Plant Sale on Sunday .  Plants grown and cultivated by our club’s own ‘dirt gardeners’ include herbs, orchids, succulents and a wide variety of natives. Gardening tools, accessories and ornamental pieces are available as well.”
