Big Dog Ranch Rescue Evacuate Bahamian Dogs to South Florida

Due to the hard-hitting category 5 Hurricane that recently wreaked havoc in the Bahamas, many people and animals were left without a home.

Big Dog Ranch in Loxahatchee was aware there would be an influx of hurt or abandoned dogs coming in to the Bahamas Humane Society.

In attempt to make room for more dogs from harder hit areas like Grand Bahama, Marsh Harbor and Abaco, Big Dog Ranch evacuated more than 50 dogs on their “rescue yacht.”

According to WPTV, Big Dog Ranch flew supplies and crates from South Florida to the Bahamas Humane Society. Volunteers worked hard to tag and bathe the abandoned dogs.

The yacht left from Nassau on Saturday with the dogs and is expected to arrive in Riviera Beach on Monday morning.

The Big Dog Ranch organization is urging residents to adopt one of the 500 dogs they currently have, in order to make room for more Bahamian dogs that need assistance.
